Prime Minister Edi Rama today unveiled the “Fiscal Peace” plan in a meeting with Elbasan businesses. The initiative introduces fiscal reforms and benefits to support small enterprises and formalize the economy.
The plan offers businesses a chance to resolve past tax issues for a fresh start with the government. Rama emphasized the plan aims to balance private and public interests by strengthening entrepreneurship.
He highlighted the early rejection of a flat tax, which he argued would have harmed smaller businesses, in favor of a progressive system that has saved lower-income earners €1.4 billion over ten years. The corporate profit tax will remain at 15%.
Acknowledging administrative weaknesses, Rama stated the government seeks to boost revenue without burdening businesses. The “Fiscal Peace” plan, inspired by ancient Roman practices, intends to foster a more supportive business environment, with the Ministry of Entrepreneurship advocating for closer collaboration.
