
India has implemented a series of retaliatory measures against Pakistan following Tuesday’s deadly attack in Kashmir that killed 26 tourists.
India has suspended the six-decade-old Indus Waters Treaty regarding water sharing between the two nations.
The border with Pakistan has been closed, impacting both people and goods movement.
A visa exemption scheme for Pakistani nationals has been cancelled, previously issued visas under the scheme are voided, and Pakistanis currently in India under the scheme have 48 hours to leave.
Pakistani military diplomats in India have been declared persona non grata and given one week to depart. India will also withdraw its military diplomats from Pakistan.
India will reduce staff at its high commission in Pakistan and decrease the number of Pakistani diplomats in its high commission in India to 30 from 55 by May 1st.
Pakistan has denied involvement in the Kashmir attack and will convene an emergency national security meeting today to discuss a response to India’s measures.
The attack on April 22 killed 26 tourists in the Baisaran meadow near Pahalgam in Kashmir.
