Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has stated that the arrest of Republika Srpska (RS) President Milorad Dodik would be catastrophic for both the region and Serbia.
Vucic said he had spent the past 10 days negotiating with NATO and EU officials to find a compromise in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH). He expressed that a solution that avoids harming any party has yet to be found. He warned of a “tough fight” ahead for Serbia.
“In the previous 10 days, I tried to talk at all levels, we pleaded with people in NATO, the head of the EU, and everyone else to find a compromise solution within BiH. A solution that will not humiliate any party, that will bring long-term stability,” he said. “It is difficult to expect to hear nicer and easier things. How and to what extent we will manage to emerge unscathed remains to be seen. Any decision to arrest Milorad Dodik would be catastrophic, both for the entire region and for Serbia, of course.”
Vucic emphasized the challenges facing Serbia, stating, “We have a tough fight ahead of us, we will adhere to the principles of what is in mind, whatever comes to Serbia. based on international legal assistance based on the requests and of Sarajevo, and at the same time, everything that we ask for, so we ask for the lynching of the prime minister in Srebrenica, we would never have a serious fight before us, but we will stand in Republika Srpska.”
