A new study has revealed that Albanian families need a minimum of 75,000 to 85,000 lek per month to cover basic living costs, including food, housing, transport, energy, and healthcare. The study, conducted by Altax, sheds light on the growing financial pressures faced by Albanians, with many struggling to meet essential expenses.
According to the report, a single individual needs between 22,000 and 25,000 lek per month just to cover basic needs like food, shelter, and medical services. For families of four, this figure rises drastically to ensure they can maintain a reasonable quality of life, including healthcare and social activities.
The study also points out that Albania’s state social payments, such as pensions, remain far below these necessary thresholds, contributing to the financial struggle for many citizens. To live with dignity, the report suggests that pensioners or individuals need at least 45,000 to 55,000 lek per month, or 60,000 to 70,000 lek if they are paying rent.
As inflation and costs continue to climb, many Albanians are finding it harder to make ends meet, with some even seeking better opportunities abroad.
