Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has warned that if a new government isn’t in place by March 19 or 20, early elections will likely be called for early May. Speaking on Serbia’s public broadcaster, RTS, Vucic confirmed that Prime Minister Milos Vucevic and his government must resign by February 17, triggering a 30-day window for either forming a new cabinet or heading to the polls.
Vucic stressed that while the constitutional clock is ticking, his preference remains to form “a good government” instead of rushing into elections.
The president also reiterated his commitment to ongoing dialogue with student protesters in cities across Serbia, following the deadly railway station collapse in Novi Sad last November that claimed 15 lives.
