Albania is setting its sights on a major agricultural boost, with PM Edi Rama announcing an ambitious goal to hit €1 billion in farm exports by 2030.
Speaking at a high-level meeting on agricultural financing, Rama said exports have already jumped from just over €100 million when his government took office to over €500 million today.
“To reach this target, we need stronger farmers, bigger investments, and more rural businesses,” he said, adding that Albania must also adapt to EU competition and standards.
A key move to fuel this growth is a new €250 million funding line for small and medium-sized enterprises, backed by the Bank of Albania and second-tier banks. The government will also act as a guarantor for investments in greenhouses, agri-processing, fishing, aquaculture, agritourism, and tech innovation in rural areas.
Rama also stressed the need for more knowledge and tech-driven solutions to boost market competitiveness, calling agritourism a top priority.
