Albanians are traveling more than ever, with official data showing a 14% jump in outbound trips in 2024. The surge, reaching 7.9 million departures, reflects a growing appetite for international tourism.
Rrahman Kasa, head of the Albanian Tourist Union, credits the increase to more Albanians choosing foreign vacations, particularly during peak seasons. “The summer and holiday period saw significant growth in travel for leisure,” he said.
Tour operator Aneo Hila added that lower travel costs have also played a major role in the trend. “Affordable trips to Italy, Greece, Turkey, and Spain are attracting more Albanians, including short shopping getaways,” Hila explained.
To stay competitive, industry experts recommend early bookings and attractive offers. But Kasa warned that some southern Albanian resorts are overpricing, which could deter potential travelers.
Despite the growing outbound numbers, Albania saw 4 million more foreign visitors than its own citizens leaving the country in 2024, underscoring the country’s growing appeal as a tourist destination.
