Three children, aged 14 and 15, died after an abandoned building collapsed in Jabllanicë, Gjakova, on Saturday. The derelict structure, left from the 1999 war, crumbled without warning, trapping them inside.
Police are investigating the cause, but family members say the children had gone out to play and were found hours later, their phones leading relatives to the site. The collapse happened at around 4:35 PM, and the bodies were recovered nearly four hours later.
“We found them lifeless,” said family member Përparim Ademaj. Emergency services were quick, but the children couldn’t be saved.
Kosovo’s President Vjosa Osmani called the loss “devastating,” while political leaders, including Assembly Speaker Glauk Konjufca, demand a full investigation.
