PRISHTINA, JAN 31, 2025 – “Wife killer’s trial starts today!” Four face charges over brutal murder of Liridona Ademaj.
The shocking murder of 30-year-old Liridona Ademaj will hit the courtroom today, as four men stand accused of her cold-blooded killing. The victim’s own husband, Naim Murseli, is at the center of the case, alongside three others – Kushtrim Kokalla, Granit Plava, and Tom Dodaj – all charged with her gruesome murder.
Liridona was shot dead on November 29, 2023, in the street outside her home in Pristina. Initially thought to be a botched robbery, the investigation quickly turned to Murseli, who had been living with her in Sweden before the tragedy struck. Prosecutors believe Murseli, who allegedly planned everything, was driven by a troubled marriage and unresolved property disputes.
The case has caused outrage, especially after Murseli attended his wife’s funeral. Liridona’s family demanded her body be exhumed and reburied under her maiden name. This tragedy shines a spotlight on a grim reality – nearly 60 women have been murdered in Kosovo since 2010, many by their husbands. Now, activists warn that the justice system is sending a dangerous message with lenient sentences.
