Albania’s anti-corruption prosecutors have launched a crackdown on election offences ahead of the May 11 vote, setting up a special task force to stop dodgy dealings at the ballot box.
Top prosecutor Altin Dumani will lead the operation, with election offences teams in all 12 regions. Investigators will target vote-buying, misuse of state resources, and criminal gang involvement.
A whistleblower hotline is being set up, while financial experts will keep an eye on public cash to stop shady spending during the campaign.
Officials warned that anyone—from gang bosses to top politicians—caught meddling with the vote will face the law.
