Students in Serbia brought traffic to a halt today by blocking the “Autokomanda” intersection, one of Belgrade’s busiest. The 24-hour protest, supported by farmers with tractors from Pan?evo, has escalated tensions after weeks of university blockades.
The demonstrators are demanding full disclosure of documents related to the Novi Sad train station renovation, following a deadly roof collapse in November that claimed 15 lives. Prime Minister Miloš Vu?evi? promised the release of new documents today, while President Aleksandar Vu?i? urged transparency from all involved.
The Interior Ministry redirected traffic and deployed water tanks, mobile toilets, and ambulances near protest zones. This comes after a shocking incident Friday when a woman, 25, allegedly drove her car into protesters in “New Belgrade,” injuring two students.
Authorities called on organizers to act responsibly, as students continue to block over 60 public faculties.
