A 28-year-old Algerian has been locked up for 18 years after fatally stabbing an Albanian man in a shocking traffic dispute.
Fatah Melloul attacked 23-year-old Klajdi Bitri in a road rage incident on August 27, 2023. The victim, who was trying to help a friend during a traffic argument, was speared in the chest by Melloul after a violent row near a roundabout.
The young Albanian tragically died on the spot.
Melloul, who fled the scene with his girlfriend, was arrested hours later. He claimed he didn’t know he’d killed Bitri. The court handed down an 18-year sentence, and the killer must also pay €40,000 in compensation to the victim’s grieving family.
Bitri’s brother recalled the horror, saying: “I saw my brother die in front of me, with no chance to understand why. He was like a father to me.”
