Prince Leka Zogu has escaped jail time after his eight-month prison sentence was converted into 16 months of probation. The 42-year-old was convicted of “family violence,” but thanks to a shortened trial, he now faces no time behind bars.
In the same case, Gjergj Zaharia, father of Elia, Prince Leka’s ex-wife, was sentenced to 10 months, which was reduced to just over six months in prison with a suspended sentence of over a year.
Elias Zaharia, however, walked free after Judge Migena Laska ruled there was no criminal offense in his case.
The case, linked to an incident at the royal palace in March 2024, has sent shockwaves through Albania’s elite.
