A family escaping Gaza has been given shelter in Albania, where a 1-year-old child is receiving life-saving medical care. The swift evacuation comes thanks to international cooperation, with the child now being treated at a hospital in Tirana.
A family evacuated from Gaza has found refuge in Albania, where a 1-year-old child is receiving critical medical treatment. The child, in need of urgent care, is currently being treated at the University Hospital Centre “Mother Teresa” in Tirana.
Albanian Health Minister Albana Koçiu confirmed the news on social media, expressing gratitude for the international support that made this humanitarian effort possible. “A family displaced from Gaza has found a safe and warm shelter in Albania,” Koçiu said.
The World Health Organization (WHO) also issued a statement, confirming the successful evacuation of the child. The father, brother, and sister of the child have been accommodated at a refugee centre in the capital. WHO praised the Albanian government’s support, particularly thanking Prime Minister Edi Rama for facilitating the medical evacuation.
Albania’s swift response highlights the country’s commitment to aiding those in need. WHO officials have emphasized the importance of coordinated international efforts, with many more from Gaza requiring urgent care.
This medical evacuation follows a ceasefire agreement brokered by Qatar, which brought an end to more than 15 months of devastating attacks in Gaza, claiming tens of thousands of lives, mainly women and children.
