The World Economic Forum’s “Global Risks Report” has flagged some serious threats for 2025, with armed conflict, extreme weather, and misinformation leading the pack.
But Albania is facing its own set of challenges. Among the top risks for the country this year: forced migration, job shortages, crime, poor public services, and growing inequality.
These concerns aren’t unique to Albania. Neighbors like Serbia, North Macedonia, and Kosovo are grappling with similar issues, especially when it comes to migration and workforce shortages.
The report also reveals that nearly one in four global leaders (23%) believe armed conflict will be the biggest concern this year. Misinformation remains a key threat, while extreme weather events like heatwaves, floods, and tornadoes are expected to get worse due to the climate crisis.
As nearly 3,000 global leaders prepare to gather in Davos, WEF’s Mirek Dušek warned the world is facing an “unprecedented global crisis,” calling for urgent action to avoid further instability.
The clock is ticking for 2025.
