Raging wildfires in Los Angeles have claimed 10 lives and left thousands homeless as firefighters struggle to contain the flames. Amid the devastation, Donald Trump has launched a scathing attack on California Governor Gavin Newsom and President Joe Biden, accusing them of gross mismanagement.
Devastating wildfires sweeping across Los Angeles have left 10 people dead and thousands homeless as flames ravage homes and infrastructure. The crisis has sparked a fierce political row, with former President Donald Trump blaming Democratic leaders for mismanagement.
The Eaton fire, one of the largest blazes, has spread over 13,690 hectares, destroying 5,000 homes and other structures, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Firefighters have managed to contain some flames in Hollywood Hills, but the West Hills area remains under threat, with strong winds fueling the inferno.
Christine Crowley, Los Angeles Fire Chief, warned of worsening conditions: “The West Hills fire is spreading rapidly due to strong winds. Containment remains a challenge.” Over 60 fire engines have been deployed to tackle the crisis.
Political blame game escalates
While emergency crews battle the flames, a political storm is igniting. Donald Trump has taken aim at California Governor Gavin Newsom and President Joe Biden, accusing them of failing to manage the state’s wildfire risks effectively.
“Gavin Newsom should resign. He’s to blame for everything,” Trump declared on Truth Social, accusing the governor of mismanaging water resources and ignoring critical infrastructure needs.
Trump also slammed investments in green energy, dismissing them as part of a “green scam.” He claimed Newsom’s environmental policies have worsened the crisis by prioritizing ideology over practical solutions.
Biden, addressing the situation from the White House, acknowledged water shortages exacerbated by grid shutdowns intended to prevent further fires. “Climate change is a reality,” Biden said, calling for collective action while defending current measures.
