Christians across Albania are celebrating Christmas today, December 25, with leaders sharing messages of peace, love, and unity. The holiday remains a cherished occasion for reflection and community.
President Bajram Begaj described Christmas as the “birth of hope” in a heartfelt message to Christian believers. He encouraged people to embrace humanity’s highest values—love, solidarity, understanding, and forgiveness.
“On this holy day of Christmas, I send my heartfelt wishes to you and your families. Christmas invites us to pause and reflect on the values that bring us together. To all Albanian families, at home and abroad, I wish joy, health, and peace,” he said.
Prime Minister Edi Rama also marked the day by sharing an image of a 17th-century Nativity icon, recently restored and displayed at the National Museum of Medieval Art in Korça. Rama called it a “testament to Albania’s deep faith and rich artistic heritage.”
“Good morning, and with this beautifully restored icon, I wish all Christian believers a Merry Christmas,” he wrote.
Christmas in Albania offers a moment to celebrate togetherness, renew traditions, and promote kindness and generosity, values that resonate far beyond the holiday season.
