Albania continues its path toward EU membership, with crucial negotiations advancing this month. On October 15, the EU officially opened Chapter I, focusing on fundamental principles, which marks a key moment in Albania’s EU integration efforts. The opening of this chapter follows a revised methodology that designates it as the last chapter to close in the overall process.
EU ambassadors will soon meet in the Committee of Permanent Representatives (COREPER) to discuss Albania’s stance on Chapter VI, which covers external relations. These discussions are crucial as Albania works to align its policies with EU standards.
Looking ahead, the EU Council will begin preparing its position for the upcoming Intergovernmental Conference with Albania in December. This meeting represents a pivotal step in moving forward with the country’s EU accession process.
With Albania’s commitment to meeting the EU’s criteria, the coming months are set to be crucial as the country takes further steps toward full EU membership.
