Oct 24, 2024 – The Special Anti-Corruption Structure (SPAK) has completed its investigation into Plarent Ndreca, an MP from the Socialist Party (PS) and former Secretary General of the Ministry of Interior. The inquiry centres on allegations of corruption related to the reconstruction of four police stations during his tenure.
Political opponents from the Democratic Party (PD) have accused Ndreca of violating tender regulations, suggesting potential corrupt practices. Legal representatives for Ndreca met with SPAK today to review the findings of the investigation, which will now be forwarded to the Court of Corruption and Organized Crime (GJKKO).
Sources indicate that Ndreca has been informed of the charges against him, which include violations of equal treatment in the tender process. The investigation also encompasses several other officials from the Ministry of Interior, potentially exposing multiple individuals to legal consequences.
As the case moves forward, there is a possibility that some individuals may face administrative penalties rather than criminal charges. This development highlights ongoing challenges related to accountability in Albanian politics, where former leaders and officials may soon confront justice for legal violations.
