Oct 12, 2024 – Albania’s tourism is booming, with 9.7 million foreign visitors from January to September 2024, nearly matching last year’s record. This growth shows Albania’s appeal as a year-round travel destination, said Tourism and Environment Minister Mirela Kumbaro.
At an annual meeting to review the 2024 summer season in Tirana, Kumbaro said the country’s tourism continues to grow, thanks to high-quality services and a broader range of attractions throughout the year.
“Albania has built a strong tourist offer, with 4.5 million visitors to protected areas and 1 million to cultural sites in 2024,” Kumbaro said. She also noted the rise of agritourism, with 270 businesses operating and plans to expand to 1,000 by 2030.
The shift toward year-round tourism is helping Albania attract a wider variety of travelers and spread tourism benefits throughout the year, reducing the reliance on just the summer months.
This growth has boosted Albania’s economy, generating more jobs and income while helping the country establish itself as a key player in the global travel market.
