Oct 12, 2024 – Kosovo has committed 200,000 euros in financial aid to Bosnia and Herzegovina following the deadly floods that swept the region earlier this month. The decision was made during an online government meeting late Friday, responding to a request from Foreign Minister Donika Gërvalla.
The floods, which began on October 4, have killed at least 22 people and caused extensive damage across Bosnia and Herzegovina. Kosovo’s contribution is part of a wider regional and international response, with neighboring countries and the European Union offering assistance.
Earlier this week, the Bosnian Cultural Center in Prizren, Kosovo’s southern city, launched a campaign to collect donations for the flood victims. The initiative, led by Kosovo’s Deputy Prime Minister Emilija Rexhepi, aims to support affected communities in Bosnia.
The flooding highlights the vulnerability of the region to climate-related disasters, prompting a surge in solidarity from local and international actors.
