Oct 8, 2024 – Police in the Albanian capital, Tirana, have charged three senior members of the main opposition party, Democratic Party, including General Secretary Flamur Noka, with involvement in illegal assemblies following a violent protest on October 7.
The demonstration lasted three hours, resulting in one arrest and warrants issued for nine others. Police reported ten officers sustained injuries as protesters engaged in vandalism and used explosive materials against law enforcement.
Authorities also charged Gazment Bardhi, leader of the parliamentary group, and E. M., the organizational secretary. Investigations are ongoing, and police have seized various incendiary devices and pyrotechnic materials from the protest site.
