Oct 3, 2024 – Albanians living and working in Italy have a reason to celebrate this week following the approval of a pension agreement between Albania and Italy. According to Socialist MP Etjen Xhafaj, the agreement was endorsed by the Foreign Policy Committees in both the Italian Senate and the Chamber of Deputies on October 3. The approval included amendments for the allocation of necessary funds.
This development is significant for over 500,000 Albanian citizens and 4,000 Italians, who are now closer to benefiting from pension provisions outlined in the agreement, which was signed several months ago. The approval process reflects a commitment to enhancing support for expatriates and fostering stronger ties between the two countries.
MP Xhafaj shared the news of this parliamentary step via a post on Facebook, expressing optimism for the future. He said that the next phase involves a plenary session vote to finalize the agreement, which holds considerable implications for thousands of migrants and their families.
