All six passengers aboard a helicopter that crashed into the Hudson River near Manhattan yesterday have died.

“Three adults and three children were on board the ‘Bell 206’ helicopter, which had departed from the city center ‘Skyport’ at around 3:00 PM,” said New York City Mayor Eric Adams, adding that the pilot and family were visiting from Spain.
Adams stated that the causes of the incident are under investigation.
New York Police Department Commissioner Jessica Tisch also addressed the media.
“Four victims were pronounced dead at the scene, and two others were taken to area hospitals, where tragically both subsequently succumbed to their injuries,” Tisch said, without disclosing their identities pending family notification.
Earlier, the NYPD confirmed on social media that the crash occurred near the West Side Highway and Spring Street, warning drivers and pedestrians to “expect emergency vehicles and traffic delays in the surrounding areas.”
Videos from bystanders showed the helicopter breaking apart in the air as it crashed into the river. News footage showed search and rescue boats operating in the area on a cloudy day.
