The Kosovo Assembly will hold a decisive session today, Thursday (April 17th) at 12:00 PM, to constitute the new legislature.
Opposition parties – LDK, PDK, and AAK – have confirmed their participation, but it remains uncertain whether they will vote in favor of the report verifying the quorum and mandates of the deputies.
President Vjosa Osmani has called for responsible action, reminding deputies that they were elected to establish institutions, not to obstruct them.
In her official statement, she quoted the Constitutional Court, which emphasized that no provision of the Constitution can be interpreted as a means of political obstruction.
“In the same Judgment, the Court also clarifies that: ‘no constitutional provision can be interpreted in such a way as to block the establishment and effective functioning of the legislative and executive powers,’ also stressing that the purpose of our Constitution is the swift establishment of institutions,” she stated.
If the report passes, deputies will be able to take their oaths, and the Assembly will elect its speaker and deputy speakers – a step towards forming the new government.
However, the question of whether the winning party has the necessary votes to form a government remains unanswered.
