Democratic Party (PD) leader Sali Berisha, launching his campaign for the May 11 parliamentary elections from “Mother Teresa” square in Tirana, declared the start of a “battle for victory, the battle for a Magnificent Albania, in which Albania rises again.”
Berisha stated, “Tonight, we gather with a solemn oath before Albania to remove it from the clutches of this regime.”
“These 12 years were years of desolation for Albania by its sons and daughters, years of impoverishment, years in which the Tirana regime and the international mafia did everything to erase from the memory of this nation your immortal work, pluralist Albania,” he emphasized.
He argued that “in these 12 years, major achievements in the field of freedom have been erased from the history of this nation.”
“We gather tonight with a new vision for Albania. With a solemn oath before it to remove it from the clutches of this regime. To restore it, to restore to it the project of the dreams of its youth, boys and girls, the most beautiful dreams,” he stated.
Berisha further added, “Today, one in two families does not have a child at home, but on the roads of the world. Today, 700,000 pensioners cry almost every day with cold tears of misery. Today, thousands and thousands of sick people do not receive medicine and rely on the mercy of disease on the beds of our hospitals. Today, hundreds of thousands of Albanian families do not receive justice. Today, hundreds of thousands of businesses go bankrupt one after another, hundreds of thousands of jobs are destroyed by Edi Rama’s narco-euros. Today, the sirens to change Albania sound on all four corners of the earth. Today, Albania impatiently awaits change, the most beautiful project it has known in history, the project of Magnificent Albania.”
Berisha highlighted the PD’s achievements, including Albania’s membership in the Council of Europe and NATO, and its role in infrastructure projects.
“This party has presented a program in which not only specific works, but the entire Albania will be magnificent,” Berisha concluded.
