Tirana will host the sixth summit of the European Political Community (EPC) on May 16, 2025, bringing together 47 heads of state or government and leaders from key European and international institutions.
Prime Minister Edi Rama described the event as historic, envisioning the creation of a “House of Europe” in a green space near the Skanderbeg monument, where prominent continental leaders will discuss political and economic issues.
Rama announced that the summit will include leaders from major European capitals like London, Ankara, Stockholm, Athens, Kyiv, Madrid, and Lisbon. He stressed the opportunity to address significant challenges facing Europe’s future.
The Prime Minister emphasized the event’s potential to promote Albania and enhance its international standing. “Albania will be in the mind of the whole world. It will be a fantastic promotion of our country, a moment of increasing Albania’s standing in the international arena, and a strengthening of Albania’s image as an important actor in global politics,” he stated.
Topics of discussion, according to Rama, will include security, economic growth, inequality, and the rising cost of living. “This is an opportunity for Europe to provide answers to some of the most important questions of our time,” he said.
Another notable aspect is the expected attendance of Germany’s new Chancellor, marking their first appearance at a multilateral forum. Rama highlighted the significance of this participation for advancing European and international policies.
Rama concluded by stating that Tirana will become a focal point, allowing Albania to showcase its dynamism and commitment to European and international affairs. He framed the summit as a chance to elevate Albania’s national pride and international position.
