Prime Minister Edi Rama has dismissed accusations from the opposition that his party copied their electoral program, describing the claim as “the most ridiculous thing in the world.”
Rama refuted the allegation, stating that the program is not a secret and is publicly accessible. “They are crying about the pensioners and that their program was copied. The most ridiculous thing in the world, as if it’s some atomic code. As if it’s some safe code, some secret, the Da Vinci Code,” Rama said.
Earlier, Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha had accused the ruling majority of copying their program due to a lack of alternative policies.
During a television appearance, Rama also appealed for votes in the May 11 elections, emphasizing the importance of sending a strong message to Brussels regarding Albania’s EU integration.
“The message must be clear: we Albanians, the Albanian people, the citizens of Albania, want to join the EU now. And with this mandate, this message, I and we will go and have a stronger argument to accelerate the process,” Rama stated.
He stressed the need for a significant majority to demonstrate the Albanian people’s desire for immediate EU membership, arguing that it is crucial for Albania’s geopolitical standing.
