Prime Minister Edi Rama announced that the average wage in Albania has reached a historic high of €830 across both the public and private sectors. In a Facebook live session, Rama projected that the average wage will reach €1250 by 2030.
“We closed 2024 with an average wage in the public sector of €1000, according to INSTAT data. Our objective is for this wage to reach €1250 in 2030,” Rama stated.
He attributed this growth to Albania’s strong economic performance, which has enabled significant wage increases across all sectors. Rama also highlighted the increase in teachers’ average salaries, from €420 to €950.
“Teachers know very well what I’m talking about because they feel this change in their pockets,” the Prime Minister added.
Rama further noted that the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has almost tripled since he took office, rising from €9.6 billion to nearly €25 billion at the end of 2024.
“Today, Albania has the opportunity to pay much higher wages than yesterday. And they will continue to be higher because the economy is in a cycle of sustainable growth,” Rama concluded.
