The leader of Ora e Shqipërisë, Zef Shtjefni, has officially withdrawn his party from the opposition coalition Alliance for a Grand Albania, led by Sali Berisha.
In a letter sent to the Central Election Commission, Shtjefni said the alliance “never functioned” and accused Berisha’s bloc of sidelining his party from the candidate lists and campaign activities. “We were never invited to meetings or included in discussions,” he wrote. “This alliance has violated its agreement with us.”
The move adds to a growing list of departures from Berisha’s coalition, weeks before Albania’s May 11 elections. Shtjefni also criticized the Democratic Party for promoting loyalty over substance. “They prefer those who flatter Berisha and believe he will return to power,” he said.
