The Albanian economy shows positive signals with rising exports, which reached 35 billion lek in March, marking a 4.9% increase compared to the same period last year.
This positive trend reflects the recovery of key domestic production sectors, particularly minerals, energy, and textiles.
First-quarter indicators are also encouraging, with exports up by 4.7% and imports down by 3.5%.
Increased exports to Kosovo (+83.1%) and Greece (+13.2%) indicate strengthening regional trade ties and growing competitiveness of Albanian products.
However, challenges remain.
The trade deficit for March is still high at 39 billion lek, and although it has decreased by 6.5% compared to last year, it has increased significantly compared to February.
Declining exports to Italy and North Macedonia highlight the need to expand and diversify export markets.
Experts suggest that to fully capitalize on the export momentum, Albania should invest more in production capacity and support high-potential export sectors, aiming for a gradual reduction in import dependence.
