Albania will host the sixth summit of the European Political Community (EPC) in Tirana on May 16, 2025, bringing together 47 heads of state or government, along with leaders of key European and international institutions.
This marks the first time the EPC will hold a meeting in the Western Balkans – a historically significant moment for both Albania and the wider region.
Prime Minister Edi Rama shared a video on social media, beginning with a statement from French President Emmanuel Macron.
“This new European organization would allow European democratic nations that adhere to our core values to find a new space for political cooperation, security cooperation, cooperation in energy, transport, investment, infrastructure, the movement of people, and especially our youth,” Macron says in the video.
Rama emphasized his pride in Tirana hosting leaders from across the democratic continent.
“Pride in the fact that on May 16, the leaders of our entire continent of democracies, from London to Kyiv and from Oslo to Ankara, will come together in the heart of Tirana for the European Political Community Summit,” Rama stated.
He also highlighted that Albania’s selection to host this important event reflects the respect and appreciation it now enjoys.
“On May 16, we will welcome the leaders of 700 million Europeans beyond the EU borders to Tirana for the European Political Community Summit. The reason why Albania received this opportunity is very simple. Because Albania today is a country where everyone looks with eyes of respect, and everyone has appreciation that personally makes me very proud, but more important in this case than pride is the inspiration and motivation to continue further,” Rama said regarding Tirana hosting the European Political Community (EPC) Summit.
The summit represents not only symbolic recognition of the Southeast European nation within the European political structure but also a strategic investment in its role in shaping the continent’s future.
