Albanian Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Igli Hasani, met with French Minister Delegate for Europe, Benjamin Haddad, on Wednesday, Anadolu Agency reports.
According to a ministry statement, discussions included Albania’s European path and the upcoming European Political Community Summit.
“During the meeting, both sides emphasized their shared commitment to European integration, the intensification of economic cooperation, and the preservation of regional stability. According to Minister Hasani, Haddad’s visit is a reflection of the special, sound, and multifaceted relations built between Albania and friendly France,” the statement said.
Regarding Albania’s European journey, Hasani particularly praised France’s “serious engagement in EU institutions,” which he deemed crucial for ensuring a fair and transparent accession negotiation process.
“France’s unwavering support on our European path is invaluable, and we are sincerely grateful for this support, which strengthens our shared vision of a united and prosperous Europe. We very much hope to continue to have this support, especially for holding the Fourth Intergovernmental Conference, which we hope will take place in the coming days, as well as for opening the other remaining chapters within 2025 towards achieving our crystal-clear objective: the conclusion of negotiations by the end of 2027,” Hasani stated.
Speaking about the upcoming European Political Community summit to be held in Tirana in May, Hasani said that the summit aims to promote cooperation and dialogue among European states on common challenges, including security and stability.
The two ministers also acknowledged France’s active involvement in the Western Balkans, highlighting its essential role in the region’s stability and development.
