Jailed Tirana mayor Erion Veliaj has booted acting mayor Anuela Ristani and handed control of City Hall to his deputy Sara Goxhaj.
Veliaj, who remains behind bars facing corruption charges, made the switch from his prison cell, reshuffling power at the top of Albania’s capital.
Ristani had stepped in as acting mayor after Veliaj’s arrest, and her appointment was sealed in a meeting attended by Prime Minister Edi Rama and the head of the Municipal Council.
