Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama has praised the nation’s teachers on their special day, March 7, honoring their dedication in shaping young minds.
“Gratitude to the teachers who, with patience and devotion, plant and nurture the seeds of knowledge in Albania’s children. Happy Teachers’ Day,” Rama said.
March 7 marks the anniversary of the country’s first Albanian-language school, which opened in Korça in 1887 despite Ottoman restrictions. The school, now the National Education Museum, was led by Pandeli Sotiri and later shaped by prominent figures like Petro Nini Luarasi and Nuçi Naçi. It remained open for two decades, laying the foundation for Albania’s modern education system.
Today, Teachers’ Day is a time to reflect on the crucial role educators play in preserving culture and inspiring future generations. Across the country, schools celebrate with performances and tributes to the unsung heroes of the classroom.
