Sali Berisha has set his sights on turning Albania into an energy giant, promising cheap power for all.
Unveiling his 2025-2029 energy plan, the Democratic Party leader said his “Great Albania” vision would make the country a regional energy superpower.
“We want to harness every energy source to deliver cheaper electricity to Albanians,” Berisha declared. “This is our grand mission.”
Blasting 12 years of Socialist rule, he accused them of stalling investments, scrapping contracts, and failing to capitalize on Albania’s abundant sunshine.
“Our country has some of the best solar potential in the region, yet in over a decade, only a handful of small parks producing 50-60 megawatts were built,” he slammed.
Berisha vowed massive investments in hydropower, rolling out hundreds of new plants, from mega-dams to micro-HECs, with rapid, profitable execution.
Another bold move? A unified energy system with Kosovo.
On oil and gas, Berisha pledged full transparency, saying gasification of major cities would slash heating and cooking costs.
And he’s thinking beyond raw materials—promising to modernize mining so Albania doesn’t just extract its vast mineral wealth but manufactures finished products from it.
“The world needs our minerals,” he said. “We won’t just dig them up—we’ll use them to build.”
With big ambitions and bigger promises, Berisha is betting on energy to fuel his 2025 comeback.
