European Union Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos will arrive in Albania for a two-day visit focused on the country’s EU accession process and the opening of additional negotiating chapters.
Kos is set to meet with Prime Minister Edi Rama at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday at the government headquarters. A joint press conference will follow at 10:30 a.m.
During her stay, Kos will also meet Parliament Speaker Lindita Nikolla and representatives of the opposition. She will travel to Elbasan to visit three EU-funded businesses and engage with students from the College of Europe and the University of Tirana. Discussions will center on civil society’s role and youth engagement in EU enlargement policies for the Western Balkans.
This marks Kos’s first official visit to Albania. Talks will cover progress in key reforms, particularly in the judicial sector, as well as the importance of sustaining progress through tangible results, in line with the merit-based nature of the EU accession process.
