Lezha Mayor Pjerin Ndreu is off the hook after Albania’s Special Court against Corruption (GJKKO) dismissed the abuse of power case against him.
Judge Etleva Deda ruled in favor of dropping the charges, following a request from the Special Prosecution Office (SPAK).
Ndreu was investigated after the Democratic Party (PD) accused him in 2023 of illegally awarding a tender for pavement work on the Lezhë-Shëngjin road during an election campaign. The opposition claimed the project, located in Xhenjo, was under the jurisdiction of the National Road Authority (ARRSH), not the municipality.
While Ndreu walks free, investigations into other municipal officials involved in the tendering process are still ongoing.
