20 MARCH 2025 – Albania is going digital, with open banking and electronic payments revolutionizing the financial sector in 2025.
At a business forum hosted by the Bank of Albania and the American Chamber of Commerce, officials highlighted how innovation is reshaping banking and making transactions faster, cheaper, and more accessible.
Central Bank Governor Gent Sejko said open banking will cut service costs, speed up electronic payments, and boost financial inclusion. Meanwhile, Dritan Mullai from the American Chamber of Commerce called it a game-changer for trade and investment, especially after Albania joined SEPA, linking it closer to EU financial markets.
Experts say businesses and consumers must embrace the shift, as Albania pushes toward a fully modern financial system.
