
Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama has announced that the country’s minimum wage will increase from €400 to €500.
Speaking in Tirana, Rama stated the new minimum wage will come into effect in January 2026, with the increase planned for June 2025.
Rama also highlighted increases in average wages. He said the average public sector wage had risen from €372 when his government took office to €1,000 in 2024. The overall average wage had increased from €322 to €830 during the same period.
Regarding the minimum wage, Rama noted it had already risen from €157 to €400. He added that most businesses currently pay above the existing minimum wage.
