Brussels has unlocked the first pre-financing funds for Albania and North Macedonia—making them the first in the region to benefit from the EU’s Growth Plan.
EU Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos congratulated the two countries on Monday, saying they’re “setting the pace” in the Western Balkans.
In a post on X, Kos said the funds should speed up key reforms, boost growth, and help bring both nations closer to the EU.
Albania is set to access up to €920 million through the plan, aimed at improving public services, governance, and economic development.
The early funding is tied to reform progress—and both countries now face pressure to deliver.
