Prime Minister Albin Kurti has declared victory in Kosovo’s parliamentary election as his party, Vetëvendosje, takes the lead in preliminary results.
With 2,230 of 2,533 polling stations counted, the Central Election Commission reports Vetëvendosje is ahead with 41.29% of the vote. The Democratic Party of Kosovo follows with 21.83%, while the Democratic League of Kosovo has 17.75%. The Alliance for the Future of Kosovo stands at 7.68%, and Serb List has 3.96%.
These figures exclude conditional ballots, votes from people with special needs, and overseas ballots.
Technical issues disrupted the electronic system, forcing election officials to count votes manually. Election chief Kreshnik Radoniqi reassured the public that this had no impact on the integrity of the process.
Speaking to supporters, Kurti hailed the results, claiming Kosovo had not only defeated his political rivals but also “beaten Serbia.” He vowed to continue his policies and form a new government, Kurti 3, alongside coalition partners Guxo and Alternativa.
“The people of Kosovo have spoken,” Kurti declared. “Even if PDK and LDK joined forces, they wouldn’t match Vetëvendosje!”
The election was largely peaceful, with authorities reporting no major incidents.
