DONALD Trump has dropped a bombshell, saying Europe must take charge of security guarantees for Ukraine—because the US won’t.
The former president made the blunt statement during a cabinet meeting, ahead of his high-stakes White House talks with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
Starmer, before heading to Washington, demanded US security assurances for Ukraine to stop Russia from launching another invasion. But Trump made it clear: America is sitting this one out.
Despite the security snub, Trump confirmed a massive deal with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, set to be signed in the Oval Office on Friday. The agreement? Ukraine’s mineral riches up for grabs.
Zelensky, however, remains cautious, calling the deal “preliminary” and insisting more agreements are needed—including the security guarantees Trump won’t give.
When asked if he’d walk away if Trump doesn’t deliver, Zelensky didn’t mince words:
“No security guarantees, no ceasefire. Nothing will work. Nothing.”
