Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vu?i? has shocked the nation by admitting that voting for the European resolution on Ukraine at the UN was a mistake. Speaking on local TV, Vu?i? apologized to the people of Serbia, saying he took full responsibility for the decision.
“I think Serbia made a mistake today. I’m sorry and I’m responsible for it,” Vu?i? said. He claimed that the decision was likely made because he was tired and overwhelmed.
Vu?i? insisted that Serbia should have followed its stance on the American resolution and abstained from voting on the European one. He also warned against being too friendly with either Russia or the United States, saying Serbia should always put its own interests first.
The UN General Assembly passed the resolution today, calling for a lasting peace in Ukraine, as the war enters its third year. Russia and the US both voted against it.
