Richard Grenell, former US envoy, has torn into Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, saying the US needs reliable Balkan partners—and Kurti isn’t one of them.
In a scathing post on “X,” Grenell fired back at Kurti’s actions, calling them “destabilizing for the region,” “unilateral,” and “uncoordinated,” pointing to his controversial moves in northern Kosovo, including replacing Serbian license plates and scrapping the Serbian dinar.
Grenell went further, accusing Kurti of rejecting US policies and alienating international allies. “American companies are flocking to Albania and Serbia, but not Kosovo, because of Kurti,” he wrote. “He’s turned down proposals from Presidents Clinton, Obama, Biden, and Trump.”
