Famous New York Times journalist Kenneth P. Vogel has shot down wild claims from Sali Berisha, Albania’s opposition leader, who accused Prime Minister Edi Rama of paying him to write an anti-Berisha article.
In a bold post on social media, Vogel hit back at Berisha’s allegations, calling them “completely false.”
“Sali Berisha is claiming that Edi Rama paid me (or @nytimes) 150,000 euros to write a story about Chris LaCivita joining the Democratic Party,” Vogel wrote. “That’s a lie.”
The controversy started when Berisha suggested that Rama used the New York Times to attack him, calling it a “boomerang.” He even said that LaCivita, a key figure in Trump’s comeback, had been sent to Albania to push Trump-style politics.
At a meeting of the Democratic Party, Berisha claimed: “Rama paid for that space in The New York Times—150,000 euros to smear me.”
But Vogel is standing firm, insisting Berisha’s version of events is simply not true.
