Albania just scored a $120 million funding boost from the World Bank to supercharge its economy, cut carbon emissions, and clean up its finances.
The Second Resilience and Green Growth Policy Program, approved Thursday, is set to shake up Albania’s fiscal system, expand renewable energy, and slash pollution.
Top priorities? Tighter tax controls, transparency on state-owned firms’ financial risks, and boosting green energy production. The plan aligns with Albania’s EU dreams and its 2024-2026 Economic Reform Program.
“This funding will help Albania tackle major energy challenges, manage fiscal risks better, and support vulnerable communities,” said Richard Record, World Bank’s acting manager for Albania.
The initiative runs through 2027, promising a stronger, greener future for the country.
