Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has slammed any chance of Ukraine recognising territories taken by Russia, no matter the pressure from global allies.
Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Zelensky said: “Even if the whole world joins forces, we won’t legally recognise occupied land. It’s impossible. As long as we don’t take it back, it will remain under Russian control.”
The President made clear that ending the war is a priority, but only with solid security guarantees in place.
Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin met with top officials on January 20, ahead of Donald Trump’s US inauguration, claiming he’s ready for “respectful talks” with the new US government. But analysts say peace talks won’t work as long as Putin sticks to his demands to force Ukraine’s surrender and weaken NATO.
