Thousands of protesters in Belgrade held a 15-minute silence outside the RTS building on Friday to honor the 15 victims of the Novi Sad train station roof collapse.
Led by University of Belgrade students, the protest demands justice for those responsible for the deadly accident. Twin brothers Lazar and Luka Stojakovic, the faces of the movement, have faced media attacks but refuse to back down.
“Corruption caused this tragedy,” Luka said. Lazar added, “One man makes all the decisions, and that’s the problem.”
The students blame President Aleksandar Vucic’s government for the disaster, accusing them of corruption. They’ve been boycotting classes and blocking traffic every day to keep the pressure on.
The collapse, which killed 14 people on November 1, has sparked outrage across the country. The protesters vow to continue until justice is served.
