On his first day as president, Donald Trump pardoned around 1,600 people connected to the January 6 Capitol attack.
Trump signed the pardons in the Oval Office late on Monday. He called those convicted “hostages” and said, “This is a big deal. We hope they’re out tonight, honestly.”
Changes to Biden’s team
Trump also began firing Biden’s appointees. Over 1,000 officials were removed, including chef José Andrés and former general Mark Milley.
Biden’s policies cancelled
Trump scrapped 78 executive orders signed by Joe Biden. One of them was a 2023 order to punish settlers in the West Bank who commit violence. Biden had said the violence was “intolerable.”
Trump’s actions have sparked debate. Supporters say he is keeping his promises, but critics fear his decisions will cause chaos.
